28th June 2008 Junior Church outing to Moors Valley Country Park - (Click to download poster)
At a recent Junior church meeting, it was pointed out that it would be helpful for the children to recognise their groups individuality. The three groups, from Pre-School to Year 7 are called;
An update from Michelle.
Mandy B. and Jonathon M. as ever continue to do a fantastic job of teaching Pre-School to Reception. Mandy has a vast amount of experience and is trained in early years. She has a heart for the younger children and they have benefited enormously from her passion. Jonathon continues to be Mandy’s rock on a practical level. Helping the children with copious amounts of glue for sticking and helping by being a dependable extra pair of hands. This group is moving into the kitchen on a trial basis. I’m leading the Year 1 to Year 4 with Tracy E. Tracy has a quality and care for children that they readily warm too and she plays a huge role in supporting all the groups in Junior church. She has a boundless amount of energy and enthusiasm. She has confidently begun teaching in the groups and with plenty of practical experience with children, she has developed a good relationship with the them. Chantelle M. is also providing support. Chantelle trained as a teacher and has recently opened a Nursery. She is up to date on all relevant policies and procedures and she has some brilliant ideas to promote Junior Church positively.
Paul E. is leading Year 8 to Year 10, with support from Ali F. and Tish R. Paul has developed a real rapport with the teenagers, which is furthered with his involvement, (and Tracy!), with ‘Jamming’, our Teenagers group. Again, he has plenty of practical experience and since he’s also ‘young at heart’ he can respond to the teenagers on their level. This group will meet in the area next to the crèche on a trial basis. The teenage group have their own teaching material. This guide will give you a better idea of your child’s group and who has responsibility for them whilst they are in Junior Church. There are some children who are in different classes to balance the groups out and the relevant parents have been informed. We aim to organise a Church outing to Moors Valley Country Park; details to follow. We will not be arranging a coach since feedback suggests that people would prefer to have their own transport. Should this be an issue, we have a backup plan! It will be good to see as many children having the opportunity of being together as a whole Junior Church as possible. We would like to see more parental involvement within Junior Church. If you feel able to provide some assistance, I’d be really pleased to talk with you. This includes crèche. Junior Church should not be viewed to be similar to school, with rules and regulations coming out of our ears. However, there are a few respectful boundaries which the children and yourselves need to be aware of. I’m sure that you can appreciate that with between 30 and 40 children, we have to be structured in our approach and keep safety in our minds at all times. Space is an issue which has been spoken about plenty of times before. We thank God that this is a problem because there are many more young people coming to church. It is difficult to bring fun and activity to children whilst balancing the diversity of our kids. Our role as teachers is to show children our real and wonderful saviour and to have fun! I would request the support from all parents in encouraging the children to bring their Bibles to Church and to promote a respectful standard of behaviour. There will be the occasional all age service at 9.30am and 11am. We will only have one service in the morning during August each year in order to maintain continuity between Church and Junior Church. Your prayers for the work of Junior Church are much appreciated. Our young people are valued and we want to develop and build relationships for the future. There will be further bulletins of information to keep you informed. For now, should anyone wish to help and support Junior Church, discuss any issues or concerns, I’m actually quite approachable!!!!!!! Thank you,
Michelle Cook
