Community Week - May 2007
Joined by a team of students from Moorlands college, Christchurch, the last week of May was given over to focusing specifically on those outside of the four walls of the Church. Our mission was to make Jesus known in the community...

Encouraging. Challenging. Surprising. Tiring. But well worth it.

Week days followed the pattern of meeting for communion, prayer, planning the day, then opening up the Church for people to drop in for tea and coffee. Many did. Traidcraft products were also on sale. Church Members and students then took to the streets to speak to local people about their views on various issues, some spiritual, others relating to the recent topical issue of homelessness and the rough sleepers in the Town. This was featured in the Echo.

Evenings included a youth night, showing the Champions League final on our big screen, and an Italian night.

Sundays we asked the question, "God : Near? Distant? Or Non-existent?"

It was great to see so many from the Church involved, a few had even taken annual leave to help out. We are now continuing to pray through the issues raised and following up the various contacts made. "I've never known such a friendly Church" was the encouraging testimony of the Moorlands Team Leader.
