Community Action Group

What is the Community Action Group
and what do we do.

The Community Action Group operates within Dorchester Community Church and is responsible for co-ordinating social and community initiatives and projects that fulfil a need within the local community that is, perhaps, not being met elsewhere.

The group meets once a month on a Sunday evening at the church. Our major activity at the moment is the Dorchester Friends in Deed befriending scheme, co-ordinated by Glenda. We also support the HUB Day Centre for the Homeless in the town, through volunteers and donations of food and kit, the Food Bank, and the Women's Refuge.

We are also interested in showing support for migrant workers in the area, and enabling various community groups to hold meetings at the church (e.g. POPPS - Partnership for Older Peoples Project). We aim to demonstrate our care and commitment to the local community and, through sympathetic action, to share the love of God.
