Membership - Witnessing

Witnessing can be one of those words we don’t like to hear, but the reality is that if we are a Christian we are already a witness. (We are either a good one or a bad one…!)

Again, we must realise that when we speak of witnessing, we are not restricting this to talking to people in the street about Jesus (although if you can do that you’re braver than most of us!) Jesus told us to be witnesses (Acts 1: 8) but we can be a witness in all sorts of ways, by what we don’t say as much as what we do say, by what we don’t do as much as what we do actually do. However, while it is true that “actions speak louder than words” the reality of Jesus should be evident through both what we say and through what we do.

Thinking outwardly, of people who are not yet Christians, is key for us as a Church. In fact, you could say that this is the primary reason we exist – to make Jesus known – hence our strapline at Acland Road of ‘Celebrating and Sharing the Love of God’.

If you are unsure whether or not you know Jesus, why not call us for a chat, or sign up for the next ‘Alpha’ course…?

We encourage people to bring their friends along to a service or to a suitable event, to talk about Church positively, to engage where people are, to be a good neighbour etc. All this is being ‘Good News’. All this is ‘witnessing’. We then hope that whoever comes to Acland Road will not only feel welcome, but will feel comfortable, able to sense God’s love and hear how this can be known in their own lives. That’s what it’s all about…
