Membership - Giving Giving can be another of those ‘not to mention subjects’ but we’re not embarrassed about it because God’s Word talks a lot about money. Giving is a part of our worship to God. We don’t give to a person or a particular work or thing, we give to God, then trust the Leaders to do with this what they feel is right before the Lord. People sometimes wonder how much they should give…? Many at Acland Road would aim to tithe (give 10%) but there is no hard and fast rule here. For some, to give £1 per week would be too much. For others to give £100 per week may not be enough. God knows our circumstances, and He alone knows our hearts. As a guide we would encourage Members of the Church to give :- • prayerfully • willingly • as they feel able • regularly • sacrificially • consistently • by standing order if possible If you are a taxpayer it makes sense to ‘gift aid’ what you give. This is legal but, equally important, we believe this is sensible stewardship. You can speak to our Treasurer, , if you would like to find out more about how to do this. We’re pleased that around 40 people now ‘gift aid’ their offering to God. During our services each week we do take up an offering, but we never ‘expect’ or demand guests or people new to the Church to give of their finances. As a Church we also tythe 10% of all we receive, and this supports God’s work elsewhere, mostly oversees or in other mission work.
