What we believe
Dorchester Community Church is a member of the Evangelical Alliance, and as such is very comfortable with adopting their statement of faith.
You can check this out through their own website on
http://www.eauk.org
As a summary, you may find the notes below helpful regarding key beliefs and practises. Beliefs The Divine inspiration and entire trustworthiness of the Bible and its supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and conduct. The full Deity and humanity of the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God and the Saviour of mankind. This Jesus was begotten of the Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, died for our sin, was raised to life and is now seated in heaven. One day he will come again. Eternal salvation is through personal faith in the redemptive work of Christ. We are aware that the above may sound very ‘wordy’ so if you would like to chat about these doctrinal issues further, please do contact us. This year our teaching series has been looking further at what we believe, and you may wish to get hold of a tape of some of the subjects we’ve covered, such as the Bible, Prayer, the Trinity, Salvation being found in Christ alone, Jesus coming again, Baptism, Communion, and Reaching Out to Others. Please contact for further information. Baptism and Communion >>more We practise baptism by immersion of believers only. We welcome anyone to share in communion with us, but recognise that it was Jesus followers who he told to remember him in this way. We break bread together as a reminder of Jesus body being broken. We take red grape juice as a reminder that his blood was shed for us, and this was necessary for ourselves to be able to be forgiven. Church Leadership >>more Spiritual leadership is in the hands of the Elders under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and in accordance with the Bible. Church Membership >>more This is open to anyone who is a committed Christian and who sees Dorchester Community Church as their spiritual home. To find out more about why we have a formalised membership, and what it means to be a member of the Church, please click on this link.
Note: We are aware that matters of doctrine can come across very 'wordy', so if you would like to know more about the above, and / or 'where the church is coming from', please do speak to one of the elders, or
